"We gather today to celebrate the birth of Our Lord, Our Savior, Jesus Christ. In accordance with our most Holy Beliefs and ideals, we seek ever more to encourage the following of Christ and the tranquility of the soul that one will find when they embrace the love of God. In the time since our last address, we've seen this tranquility continue unabated as our flock remember, honor, and celebrate this ancient holiday in the warm embrace of their families and friends.
Family, Love, Mercy. These words and bonds should be the bulwark of all Christendom against the wants and ills we've seen in this past year all across the world. Discord has been known in all its corners and along with it the rider of that pale horse that we shall see on the day of judgement. All tests both man made and sent upon us from the throne of God can and must be stood against by our bulwark of Family, Love and Mercy.
The importance of family even in our modern quickgoing world cannot be understated. It is the engine of the future, shaping and molding our civilizations as they pass through the narrow door of time. It is the engine of humanity, where we all learn what it means to love, to be kind, and to share in communion with our fellow man and with God himself. It is in this time of division and isolation that families are needed foremost, even within the confines of the papal state. A family tree is the story of lessons learned and wisdom passed down through the ages. From the highest grandparent to the newborn child, each leaf on this tree has a story to tell or be told. We as the leaves give way in the cold twilight of our lives, and the wisdom we leave behind will be the nourishment for those who come after in their own spring.
It is from this wisdom that the young must learn the lessons of love and mercy. Love is a powerful thing. Love is the Word of God. His Love for us, for all of creation. That love comes to us through the actions of His flock across the world, and of course through the powerful self-sacrifice of Christ. Mutual love of two people is a heavenly thing. Even the torrid affair of two lovers has some virtue buried beneath the sin. From love comes mercy, and from mercy, peace. We have spent the majority of pontificate teaching this lesson within our legal system and within the words of our masses abroad. The love we extend to our loves, our families, and god must be extended to those wrong us. All people, even the most vile, are still people. They were or are still lovers, still leaves on a tree of their own. Harshness only leads to regarding a person as less than a person, and with that innumerable evils come. Mercy was not shown Christ, but in spite of this he and God forgave all of mankind. We must do the same to our fellow man or woman. Merry Christmas."~LIVESTREAMED FROM ST.PETERS BASILICA ON 12/25 at 9:00AM via YouTube
