"We gather today to celebrate the birth of Our Lord, Our Savior, Jesus Christ. In accordance with our most Holy Beliefs and ideals, we seek ever more to encourage the following of Christ and the tranquility of the soul that one will find when they embrace the love of God. While Pope Helius never saw it fit to do one of these speeches, I will continue this tradition to speak to you, our most devout Christian flock.
In the past few years, a new era has dawned for our country. This era is marked by the peace, hope, and prosperity that many are now acknowledging as the Helian Age after our predecessor's magnanimous reign. We have seen in these years uninhibited progress in both economic and scientific arenas. With the ongoing construction of the Climax Paradisi, we inch ever more towards touching the stars. This achievement is a testament to our people's determination, defiance, and diligence in the face of insurmountable adversity both in the past and in the future. Much like the star who led the magi to the Infant Christ in Bethlehem, we will follow the stars to discover what other miracles god has laid before us. We shall not impede this most holy of quests, and this most human desire to explore the world around us. The Helian Age will continue in perpetuus.
We will continue to endeavor, however, in encouraging the virtues of Christ both within the government and church and to the people of our empire. Charity, Mercy, Kindness and Justice will be the lessons our pontificate. God has called upon his people to render good in this world. It is only right that the church and state oblige this request. This why the inquisition has ended. Crime must be dealt with justly, but terror and death are not the ways of Jesus. I wish those who have suffered horrifically at the hands of our church or state to rest in peace, or live happily as they can, and offer the greatest of apologies in the name of Vicar of Christ. Christmas is a time that reminds us all of our shared humanity, and that power of love will always conquer the divisions of hatred and disagreement. I urge all Christians to seek out those they've wronged and those they've hated, and offer not only your mercy but the love of your heart. Wish them well and do them good, and then you shall feel just a smidge of what everlasting love and grace that God gave us all on Christmas, two thousand years ago in a manger in Bethlehem.
Merry Christmas to you all."~LIVESTREAMED FROM ST.PETERS BASILICA ON 12/25 at 9:00AM via YouTube
